James Akers, Jr.
James was born and raised in Lexington, NC (the BBQ Capital of the World!). For more than five years, he worked as a store manager, than a district manager for a wireless retailer, managing stores in Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Concord, Pineville, Matthews, Spartanburg, and Greenville. After living in Charlotte for three years, James moved to Greenville and fell in love with the Upstate.
In 2004, James attended the Wyatt Institute of Real Estate and obtained his real estate license. Prior to joining The Marchant Company, James was affiliated with another local company where he sold over 100 homes in five years.
James lives in downtown Greenville in a recently renovated condo with his two dogs, Domino, a Parson Jack Russell, and Graycie Mae, an Italian Greyhound. James is very active in both local and statewide politics and currently serves as a Greenville County and South Carolina Delegate for the Democratic Party. He also serves on Greenville Forward’s Inclusion Task Force Committee as well as the Buildings & Grounds and Communications Committees at the yWca of Greenville. He is a Charter Member of Greenville Rotaract and currently serves as the Social Media VP. In 2009, James was selected as one of Greenville’s Best and Brightest 35 and under by Greenville Magazine.
JeanE Bartlett
A REALTOR since obtaining her license in 2005, JeanE has attended educational classes as often as possible to stay knowledgeable. She has focused her energy on designations that most help her best represent her buyers: ABR, ePro, SRES, EcoBroker Certified.
JeanE’s real estate career began not long after being offered an early retirement package following 26 years in the health care industry (2004). Having held various positions in marketing, sales and technical support during that time, JeanE decided to change directions and become a real estate professional. She received her real estate license in 2005, gaining experience as a Realtor and Buyer Agent for Century21, REMAX Foothills and WOW Upstate Realty before moving to The Marchant Company in February 2011. During her career as a Realtor, JeanE has helped over 100 buyers find just the right home. Prior to working in the corporate world, JeanE taught pre-school and worked as a Radiologic Technologist.
Since moving to Greenville in 1997, JeanE is very happily living in a patio home just south of Furman University. Sharing her home is her queenly cat Skitter, and brother & sister cats, Handsome and Chirper. Since adopting Skitter in 2001, she has fostered mothers and their new kittens until adoption, and has captured & found homes for several feral cats – paying for shots, sterilization. JeanE loves all theater & the arts and is often involved either onstage or backstage in productions at Centre Stage ( www.centrestage.org). She also maintains the volunteer database for the theater, identifying volunteers for backstage production work. JeanE also is the Secretary for her neighborhood POA and writes the neighborhood newsletter. Friends are her source of strength & confidence and she is grateful to have such good friends near and far. JeanE’s favorite times are with her family – her sister, brother and their families in NYS. JeanE travels ‘home’ to see them as often as she can, and won’t miss the family’s summer vacation at Rehobeth Beach !!
